calculation of sound power level

[Archived phorum post from squ1.com v2 by Ben Yeung]

Hi Andrew,

Is it possible using the acoustic model for calculation of sound power level at point receivers or on a grid just like the daylight factor calculation?
It seems that this topic is not mentioned in tutorial or help file of Ecotect.

Thanks
Ben

Hi Ben,

In its current form, ECOTECT does not calculate sound power levels at specific points in space - mainly because of complex diffusion and defraction effects which are not directly calculable using geomeyric ray-tracing.

We have developed techniques for displaying sound power levels over an analysis gird, given a number of sound sources, however they require very informed interpretation so have not yet been made available in the public releases.

Its something I would like to add as our diffusion model develops, but is not currently available.

Regards,
Andrew
