Congratultions from Turkey!

To the ones who deserve the highest virtues with their respectable dedications for the continuity of the superlative software: Ecotect:
Congratulations on your newest web-site and of course the newest version of the program.
We - the ultimate users of the program - are really very glad to reunite with it.
Personally I want to express my sincere appreciation to you for the punctual release of the new version of Ecotect. Since, for the coming semester, our research group (Sustainable Environmental Design Unit - SEDU)at the Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey, will start new research projects related with computational support for environmentally sustainable design and refurbishment of buildings in Turkey. Furthermore, another secton of the group will focus on the integration of computer-based enivronmental performance assessment techniques with architectural design at undergraduate level. With no doubt for all these studies we decide Ecotect as the most appropriate program to use. As a result, we will extensively need your support throughout the anticipated research program at our university. We will always be in touch with you from now on.
See you soon...
With Best Wishes from Ankara, Turkey.

Thanks for your kind words tugrulkaraguzel.
It sounds like you are starting some interesting teaching / research at your school... we are very pleased that you think ECOTECT can help you with all this!

Just out of interest have you had a look at squ1.org -- we are planning for this site to be a vibrant community area fpr the development of all our previous teaching notes we had online as well as the software documentation, teaching packages etc. etc.

It's still in its infancy as we haven't got the ECOTECT help file up (its huge) and we are still working on what might be an ideal structure / navigation for the site, but nevertheless we'd be interested to know if you think it might be useful for your work.

Thanks again and best of luck with all your endeavours!
Caroline

comment posted by VictorZ :: 3 July 2006 - 6:45am

I am a longtime AutoCAD user and presently after many years I have upgraded to Revit - currently using V9.

Can you advise if SQU1 have plans to make a connecton between Ecotect and Revit?

I look forward to your comment(s)...thanking you in advance.

Also, congratulatons on Webpresence...your efforts have been astounding.

Yes, and someone else also asked about ECOTECTs integration with other tools the other day on this post.
There was also a bit of a discussion about Revit and ECOTECT on the AUGI at on this thread. I eventually managed to post a reply to this which should explain in a bit more detail about our intentions.

Just to outline what I mentioned in brief here; basically we do intend to support as many CAD tools as possible, including Revit, and that this is likely to be done in the first instance via IFCs and gbXML. A direct Revit link via their API will come in a subsequent ECOTECT update... say v5.51 or something.

Come to think of it we should add these CAD integration items to the ECOTECT project so that everyone can monitor the progress on these features -- I will do that now...
