ECOTECT meets ArchiCAD...
"The Easy Way to Building Performance Analysis".

ECOTECT & ArchiCAD working together Smiling

With ArchiCAD's unique ability to generate and export spatial/thermal zones, it is now possible to extract exactly the information required by ECOTECT for detailed thermal, lighting and acoustic analysis, as well as compliance with the latest Part L of the UK building regulations. This integration is achieved through the full support of gbXML by both programs.

This marks a significant breakthrough that allows designers to effortlessly incorporate performance analysis in their typical design/CAD work flow.

An update for ECOTECT including gbXML, UK SBEM and SAP support will be previewed at the first of these seminars on the 10th of October, and available for download shortly after.

What will you learn from attending ?

  • How model-based architecture provides the basis for really quick and easy building performance analysis.
  • How to create and maintain zone information in your ArchiCAD models.
  • An understanding of the major performance analysis features of ECOTECT including Part L compliance.
  • How documentation on performance analysis can be readily incorporated into your design documentation.

When and where ?

The seminars will be taking place at a number of locations, with the first collection being run by Bite starting on the 10th of October in Newcastle, then moving on to Leeds, Cambridge, London and Nottingham.

There will be further dates and locations added around the UK & Ireland right up until the end of 2006. For further information on a seminar near you, please contact Alan Baikie at Graphisoft UK.

Reserve your place

Places are strictly limited and by invitation only, so we urge you to reserve your place for this first set of seminars early, if you would like to attend. You can do this and find out more information by visiting http://info.graphisoft.co.uk/AABR.

Software for MAC

comment posted by Chern :: 6 October 2006 - 2:16pm

My vote totally for the software to be on Mac OS native. Es pecially for those do not wish to venture into the window maze.

Cool websites! hope you can also provide a page or two 'for beginners' or 'for dummys'

thanks

ECOTECT meets Vector Works ???

Will there be one for Vector Works ?
(for MAC users of course : P )

Looking forward to that hopefully in the very near future .

Yes we would like to develop for mac too...

Hi Chern.

Yes we would like to develop for mac too...
At the moment though it is a matter of having soooo much planned as features for ECOTECT that we are finding it difficult to schedule the development for specific operating systems other than Windows.

However, the plan is to do multiple OS with the next full version (v6) release -- so hopefully this is sooner rather than later.

With regards to Vector Works, I'm sure that there are a number of options for integration that we could explore depending on what VW can export etc.

Always keen to make life easier on the interoperability front!

Ecotect on MAC

comment posted by Olivier :: 19 October 2006 - 3:50am

Tim,

Any experience trying the Ecotect software on an Intel-based MAC?

I share office with someone that uses ArchiCAD (works on MAC + PC) on a MAC. When he needs to demonstrates something to his PC-clients, he just "switch" to Windows. Nifty.

importing IFC file from Archicad..... how...

comment posted by JasonPrincehorn :: 30 May 2007 - 12:32am

Hi. I am the Business Development Manager at Graphisoft Australia. I have some clients that are looking to purchase Ecotect and have already downloaded the trial version of it. They are also Archicad user. They are unable to find how to import an IFC file into Ecotect that is created from Archicad. Could you please help me by telling me what is needed or how they go about this.Your prompt reply would be appreciated.

Thanks

the IFC function is...

Jason, the IFC function is not complete yet and thus is due for release in one of our upcoming updates. Besides I think the ArchiCAD/ECOTECT conversion you are after is actually done via gbXML -- GS should have informed you guys that this conversion is due in v5.6 once the format and integration has been complete. There is also an add-on to ArchiCAD which allows the conversion to be run directly from ArchiCAD but I am not sure about the release status for that or if it just comes as standard. I recall that you may have to download a plugin for gbXML use in ArchiCAD...

Best.

Ok thanks for that. I just

Ok thanks for that. I just have an Ecotect brochure that says that this is available in v5.50.
Any idea of the timeframe until the release of V5.6 as im sure i have plenty of potential buyers of Ecotect when this does happen.

Do you have a personal Email address i can contact you on in regards to these sort of matters as well as others including the testing of Ecotect so that it can be certified for use in producing energy ratings in Australia that you may be aware of. So Far you would have been dealing with Andrew but he has his hands full.

Thanks

Connecting with ArchiCAD

comment posted by Dai Gwynne :: 20 May 2008 - 4:28pm

Back at the end of 2006 I went to a seminar (cum sales pitch) on integrating ArchiCAD and Ecotect. On the strength of that we upgraded from AC8.1 to AC10 (and since to AC11), but I have never managed to get an Archicad model to convert to Ecotect despite downloading various Add-ons and logging in to GBS and trying to registed UK-sited projects as if they were somewhere in Seattle (seems the closest climate). This afternoon, I read a note about GBxml files only being readable in Ecotect 5.6, which would would fit with my experiance. That note was 2006 too, I think, and it expected v 5.6 soon. The downloads still seem to be for v 5.5. Am I still locked out?
