Support for new UK Part-L changes

Project:Autodesk ECOTECT
Component:Import/Export
Category:task
Priority:normal
Assigned:andrew
Status:active
Description

With the introduction of recent changes to Part-L of the UK building regulations, work on full integration within ECOTECT is progressing well. However, at this stage the process of controlling the DOS executables supplied by the BRE needs more checking. Once this is done we will enable SBEM support in the beta.

Required Tasks

The following aspects need to be thoroughly checked before the final release:

  1. Generating and exporting proposed building Done
  2. Generating and exporting notional building Check and Test
  3. Forking a thread to control the execution sequence of the SBEM analysis. This involves:
    • Running SBEM.EXE with proposed model - forking a thread to sit and wait.
    • Running SBEM.EXE again with notional model - again, sit and wait.
    • Invoking and monitoring BRUKL.EXE, sit and wait.
  4. When all three are done, display option to load results directly into SUMMARY page. Options to include:
    • Parsing the output directly and display customised HTML rendering of page. Include script links to load data into ANALYSIS page and display thermal and load graphs.
    • Display any of the SBEM and BRUKL.EXE generated HTML pages directly.

Andrew,
I went along to the Building performance seminar in Bristol, UK 2 weeks ago.
How is ECOTECT`s Sbem accreditation going?
Are there any other calcs (SAP) that it can do?
regards,
V
