sun-path diagram - sun intensity overlay

I can´t find the way to overlay solar intensity on the 3D sun path, as I´ve seen in a brochure. Can anyone please show me the way?

Thanks

Hello Francisco,

As I understood you are asking about this (see attachment, done with weather file of Eugene, OR, USA - 44 N):

1. I modelled simple volume and selected west facing edge at 3D EDITOR window (I painted it red in Photoshop). (NB - Make sure that normals are looking in the right direction!)

2. At Menu selected Calculate -> Sun Path Diagram...

3. Clicked on Calculate Shading...

4. At Displayed Data combo-box selected which stress I'd like to calculate (let's say Direct+Indirect). You can also increase detail of "stress mesh" - by decreasing Sky Subdivision in both edit fields from 5 to 2.

5. Click OK. It takes a bit while Ecotect calculates.

6. Be sure it is the color range you want to see (in my case upper level was 1700, I'd like just 500). If you want to change it - click Manage -> Customise Scale... and customise it. N

7. Just make sure button "Show in Visualisation" is turned on.

8. Back in Ecotect and VISUALISE - it should be like my screen shot. You can also press F5 for top view if you like that better.

Hope that helps.

Sincerely,
Zigurds.

Hi Zigurds,

I am not really able to follow your step 4, could you please explain more or provide a screen shot of that step?

Cheers

O sorry. I found the button. It is in the same pop-up windows when you click the "calculate shading".

Thank you.

Oh, Yes

Hello Howard,

Here you are (steps 1-7 altogether). Image perhaps speak better than written words...

Hope that helps.

Sincerely,
Zigurds.

Zigurds,

thanks a lot for your help, it was exactly what I was looking for, and I wasn´t able to find it in the help file...
Also, thank you for your answer to my CFD question in the modelling forum, it is nice to see someone take care of it. Looks like we´ll have to wait for another release at least to try air flow analysis. (Too bad Winair4 is ot publicly available)

Best,

BB
