Nitin,
I cannot tell you when the new version will come out.
Today I have met with someone from Graphisoft showing some very exciting stuff...that's all I can say. gbxlm is probably not the most appropriate solution for the future of Ecotect export.

I am watching the presentation at Autodesk University where Gensler has made a claim about importing gbXML file into Ecotect. Is Ecotect ready for gbXML, or this is a show off by Gensler.

Revit and GBXML

Hello Tomislav,

No, it is not a showing off by Gensler Eye-wink
They have gotten their hands on a beta release of Ecotect 5.6.
Ecotect 5.6 will import gbxml quite nicely, understanding most materials - that is a window in your revit model will be assigned a window element in Ecotect. Also, Ecotect understand the thickness of the wall and will only import the interior layer. It isn't quite ready though: as far as I can tell, in the beta version you need to re-link each window element to their respective parent wall as it used to be "attached" to the exterior wall layer that is no longer imported. I am sure squ1 will polish this before the public release.

Best,
Olivier

Thanks for the update

Hi Olivier,

This is definitely a good news, as I am slicing and dicing Revit's gbXML output in order to accommodate for the geometry that does not translate well. The bigger question for me is whether Ecotect will produce a better quality gbXML file, and when it will become available, as I am trying to use it for my upcoming course.

Sincerely,

Tomislav
