Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV). Can ecotect help calculations, simulations

Hello all, I am new to this forum, so first i would like to say hi to everyone.

In the last 2 days i am using ecotect in the evaluation mode, trying to understand how can it help me in my diploma thesis report.
One part of my report is to compute the benefits of using photovoltaics integrated in buildings. I am considering to use ecotect in order to calculate the lighting impacts of photovoltaics integrated in the windows of the buildings. In the exesting material library, lightthrue photovoltaics are not included.
Is there any tool available or any idea how to integrate them, apart from using a material that just creates shadow in the inner part of the building?

thank you for your time, hope that i explained my problem well.

With regards

Light through PV

Sotiris,

You should find out the transparency value of the glass PV, then transfer this value to a window element acting as your PV.
Doing this, Ecotect will not be able to calculate the PV output since the window element is not a solar collector element. You might then change that to a solar collector when need to be.
You could also assign the transparency to the solar collector element, but I do not know if that has any effect on the electrical output.

Best,
Olivier
