How to choose transparent background?

Hello everybody!

Can anybody tell me whether it's possible to set the background color to "transparent" in order to easily fit my modell into another graphic?

Thanks,
Thomas

Not sure what you mean by transparent Thomas -- you always have to have some kind of background colour in the software, or any software for that matter.

If your aim is to composite images, we do this all the time using image editing software like photoshop or the like. Usually this involves overlaying of several screenshots showing different section cuts or analysis results and then deleting certain aspects, like the backgrounds, so that some parts show through etc.

Is this what you mean ?

Yes, in general that's what I mean. I was just wondering weather ecotect is able to export only the information of the selected zones instead of a rectangular screenshot of the whole model including the background. My colleagues tell that some programs can do that and that this would save time because you don't have to delete anything etc. I hope I could make myself clear.
As far as I'm concerned now exporting just the picture of the selected objects isn't possible, is it?

cheers,
Thomas

Which ones are these -- if you let us know how/what does this then we will probably have a much better idea of what you are after in order to help.

Generally I am not sure that just dealing with the objects would necessarily be appropriate for ECOTECT as this in some instances would miss important info such as shadow casting, as shadows for example aren't strictly "objects".
